Statement of Faith

Windsor Gardens Church is a fellowship of residents mainly within the Windsor Community. Our purpose is to conduct worship services on Sundays; to minister to the person and spiritual needs of the people; and to provide pastoral services and counsel to those who ask.

As an Interdenominational Fellowhip, we recognize that some affirmations of faith are more central than others. Some affirmations are essential, while followers of Jesus hold various opinions on lesser matters. Therefore, we ascribe to the time-tested rule of faith:

In the essentials: Unity. In the non-essentials: Liberty. And in all things: Charity.

What are these essentials?

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, authoritative Word of God and that it is useful for teaching, thoroughly equipping for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16).

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 3:16-17; Matt. 28:19).

We believe in God the Father, the Great "I Am", who is God of gods, and Lord of Lords, the great God, mighty and awesome; and that He has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Exod. 3:14; Deut. 10:17; Eph. 1:3).

We believe in Jesus Christ; that He is the Son of God, truly God and truly man; we believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory (John 1:1-18; John 10:27-30; John 14:11; Acts 2:22-36; Romans 8:3, 32-34; Phil. 2:5-11; Col. 1:12-22; 1 Timothy 6:14-16; 1 Thes. 4:13-18).

We believe in the Holy Spirit who is the promised comforter; and we believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life until the day of redemption (John 14:15-17; 16:7-15; Eph. 1:13-14).

We believe that it is through Faith in Jesus Christ's atoning work alone, that sinful people may have their sins forgiven and receive the gift of Eternal Life. Having received that gift, the believer is called to a life of obedience to Jesus Christ (John 14:6,21; Eph. 2:8-9; Matt. 28:20; John 10:27).

We believe that each believer in Jesus Christ is part of the larger visible and invisible Body of Christ; that we are called together in local churches to worship and encourage one another and to participate in the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe we are called to love and serve one another in and out of the church, and to be a witness to the world of the saving work of the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph. 5:30; Heb. 10:25;  Matt. 28:19; Luke 22:19-20; 1 John 3:14; 2 Cor. 5:20).
